January 24 was our date to move our property out of the Hawaii Maritime Center. We were fortunate to have some excellent volunteers to help with the move, which went smoothly. Mahalo to Board members Bruce McEwan, Chris Woolaway, Fred Nunes, Jeanie Ainlay, and Mark Hamilton. A big mahalo to new volunteers David Hoe and Mark Armstrong. A special mahalo to members and supporters of Venture Crew “The Squirrels,” who used this as a group work project. Their team consisted of Nicole and Kenneth Bruner, Stanley James, Elliott and Laura Park, and Sarak Piedra. Here are some pictures of the working volunteers.

Friends of Falls of Clyde submitted a Grant-In-Aid application to the State Legislature, requesting funds for our drydock project. Based on the 2009 Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 138 (quoted in part below), we feel the legislature should step up and provide some funding.

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-fifth Legislature of the

State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2009, the House of Representatives

concurring, that the Falls of Clyde is recognized as a historic symbol of

Hawaii; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Falls of Clyde should be treasured

and protected by the State of Hawaii and its residents.

At this time, we have not yet heard from the National Park Service about our application for a “Save America’s Treasure” grant. We are hoping to get a positive decision shortly.

We know that there is great interest in the future of the Falls of Clyde. There is a lot going on that the Board of Directors is dealing with, so we felt that keeping stakeholders involved through a report on our website is the easiest way to reach our worldwide audience.
