Drydock

The decision to go into drydock this summer has been deferred pending success of our capital campaign. We met with PSI to assess the status of the pre-drydock work and were advised that PSI is not in a position to carry us with a payment schedule for the drydock. We have started our grassroots contacts for donations and have made some submissions for grants. The big grant for the federal Maritime Heritage Grant is accepting applications until September. Other grant sources, foundations and corporations, have various application due dates, most of which are during or after the drydock period we would have had. Both PSI and the Friends of Falls of Clyde board feel it is prudent to press forward with the fundraising and find a new window for the drydock once sufficient funds are in the bank to cover the cost estimate we have plus a contingency for unknown repairs that will be identified once the hull is cleaned and inspected. The board set a target of $3 million. We need everyone who has been following us over the years to provide whatever funds they can to move us toward our goal.

While we are focusing on the capital campaign, we will also be looking at a smaller project we can work on. The board has identified work on the poop deck and Captain's salon as areas that will be beneficial.

We know that there is great interest in the future of the Falls of Clyde. There is a lot going on that the Board of Directors is dealing with, so we felt that keeping stakeholders involved through a report on our website is the easiest way to reach our worldwide audience.
