Happy Birthday greetings were given to our dear old ship on December 12. She was launched 136 years ago on that day. After the monthly board meeting, there was a small party and a toast to the long-term health of our national historic landmark and Hawaii treasure. See the pictures below. Friends of Falls of Clyde held a first on December 13 with a Movie Night on Falls of Clyde. The idea was the brainchild of board Vice President Chris Woolaway. With the able assistance of board members Jeanie Ainlay and Kevin Hart and former board member Capt. Jeff Lansdown, the movie night came off successfully. Special Mahalo to Capt. Lansdown, who provided a sail to use as a movie screen (see pictures below). Also, a special Mahalo to former board member Hans Van Tilburg, who provided a wonderful documentary movie by Irving Johnson titled “Round Cape Horn,” which was filmed during a 1929 voyage. That was followed by the partial showing of the commercial film “Master and Commander” starring Russell Crowe. The success of this first event will probably mean more such evenings in 2015. We will put out a notice a few weeks before a future movie night. See pictures of the event below. I can safely say that a “good time was had by all!” |

We know that there is great interest in the future of the Falls of Clyde. There is a lot going on that the Board of Directors is dealing with, so we felt that keeping stakeholders involved through a report on our website is the easiest way to reach our worldwide audience. Archives
