16-30 April

I would like to report that the end of April brought us good news, but that is not the case. As of the end of the month we had still not heard about our application for the National Maritime Heritage Grant. More concerning, however, was a meeting called by the DOT-Harbors Division. We met with the new Deputy Director and Harbors Administrator. The gist of the meeting was to put Friends of Falls of Clyde on notice that changes are taking place in the harbor and tenants are being looked at and some are being moved around. Our gratis Revocable Permit is clearly in jeopardy. The Harbors Division wants details on our business plan and how we are going to raise the money to take the ship into drydock, which is critical for her future. We continue looking for new sources of funding.

With that in mind, I am happy to announce that starting on May 5, 2015, Friends of Falls of Clyde is starting an Indiegogo crowdfunding to gather funds for our drydock and other projects that we have planned. I will be posting this notice on our Facebook page. We will have a link to Indiegogo in our Save Our Scottish Ship page. We would appreciate everyone following us to get the message out to others. A lot of people giving whatever they can afford can get us to our goal.

We know that there is great interest in the future of the Falls of Clyde. There is a lot going on that the Board of Directors is dealing with, so we felt that keeping stakeholders involved through a report on our website is the easiest way to reach our worldwide audience.
